Healthy gums do matter.

The gums form the foundation of our teeth and it is very important to look after these. At Elstead Dental Surgery we provide you with an individually tailored oral hygiene programme. Our experienced dental hygienist Lisa is professionally trained to treat gum disease and advise you on the best cleaning techniques.

We have hygienist appointments available most days, including late evening and Saturday morning appointments. A visit to the hygienist will include removing all the hardened plaque (calculus) and staining around the teeth that harbours plaque, making it easier to keep the teeth clean. However, the most important part of the visit is education. We will show you how to clean your teeth and use aids to improve your cleaning so you can stabilise the disease.

Further treatment may be required if the disease is advanced or does not respond. Most such cases can be treated in- house.

Healthy gums are the basis for healthy teeth and a comfortable mouth.

If you have a low or uneven gum line, often described as a ‘gummy smile’, or if your gum line is uneven, then gum contouring procedure can transform your smile. By reshaping of the gum we can restore the natural proportions of your teeth.

If you suffer from gum recession, gum grafting procedure can improve not only the aesthetics but also sensitivity caused by the exposed root surface. At Elstead Dental Surgery our in house expert, Dr Bhavin Pitamber has an extensive experience in gum contouring and gum grafting procedures.
